Participants from different countries and disciplines, international scientists and experts from Center of Excellence Logistics and IT work together intensively for one week. Theory becomes practice. This year\u2019s Summer School of the Graduate School of Logistics will take place from July 8-12, 2019 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics in Dortmund.<\/p>\n

Following the mission statement of the Graduate School of Logistics, the program provides a balanced mix of theoretical foundations and practical implementation. In addition to keynotes, we offer hands-on workshops in the laboratories of Fraunhofer IML and a Live Case Study in a company. You will act in interdisciplinary groups, create new ideas and work on concrete examples from the business world.<\/p>\n

What to expect?<\/h3>\n

Artificial intelligence (AI) pursues the basic idea of reproducing natural, human learning processes. Fundamentally, it is not a new topic and, if anything, it has been researched for several decades. However, the economic importance of this topic is enormous today. Intelligent systems, self-learning machines and autonomous vehicles have particular potential. With today\u2018s concepts, methods and technologies, it is possible for us to raise the potential of AI.<\/p>\n

Logistics is an especially interesting area of tension. In our complex supply chains and networks, unpredictable situations often occur, which is why existing industrial solutions cannot simply be transferred to logistics applications. The use of machine learning becomes necessary. The challenge: Machines learn from data, which is rarely available in good quality and is hardly described in a sufficient semantical way. This makes data analytics procedures important for creating a suitable basis.<\/p>\n

Drill deeper<\/h4>\n

Let\u2019s start a journey and get deeper into the topic. What is Machine Learning? What does it mean for logistics? How do autonomous vehicles navigate? How can we create the right data basis for machine learning? What effects do AI and machine learning have on human-machine interaction? And why are Smart Contracts important for the realization of the Social Networked Industry?<\/p>\n
